Artist's Description
An abandoned swing and its reflection are captured at dusk as it stands in the Salton Sea. A serene, minimalist scene also has a few birds, clouds, and mountains. I love the minimalism in this scene and the power in the negative space. I should note that although it is beautiful to look at, the lake is quite toxic and polluted. It is evaporating quite rapidly and as it does, more and more toxic dust is released into the air which is considered harmful to the people who live in the area. I am hoping to get back there soon to document the area more as it is rapidly changing. Featured in the Experimental Photography group, Lady Photographers and Artists, and the Beach Moment group. This looks great as an art print, canvas print, metal print, coffee mug, and much more.
About Tina Horne

I first fell in love with photography when my father taught me how to develop film when I was very young. Through the years, that love has continued to grow. I am still amazed by how a photograph, a single image, can convey such emotion, feelings, or spark a fond memory. Photography is always evolving and I feel blessed to work in a field that allows me the opportunity to learn and grow with it. I am happy as long as I have a camera in my hand, but I am especially passionate about macro and up close photography. I work primarily as a stock photographer and sell my photographs all over the world. I describe my style as: Bold. Color. Detail. When I don't have a camera in my hands, I can be found traveling, cooking, walking,...

This simple and unusual image was my selection for Pick of the Day in the Best of Minimalism group on December 8. Beautiful, but the story of the scene and area is so sad. You can't miss the symbolism of the swing that a laughing child once enjoyed half-covered in water and alone in the expanse.
Tina Horne replied:
Thank you so much Nikolyn - appreciate it! It is a sad story to what has happened to the lake,
