A Masai giraffe (giraffa camelopardalis tippelskirchi) is captured with his tongue out as he licks a tree. I was thrilled to capture this giraffe with his tongue out. It is assumed the black color of a giraffe's tongue is to protect it from the sun since it gets so much exposure. I first fell in love with photography when my father taught me how to develop film when I was very young. Through the years, that love has continued to grow. I am still amazed by how a photograph, a single image, can convey such emotion, feelings, or spark a fond memory.
